Cambria with Two Kids | Ann-Marie Loves

Two weekends ago we loaded the kids in the car and drove up to Cambria for our first family-of-four vacation!

I finally understand what people mean when they say that vacations with kids are not really vacations. It’s A LOT of work. There’s logistics up the wazoo that need to be figured out (diaper changes, snacks, naps, entertainment, exercise, changes of clothes, getting the giant stroller in and out of the car, etc) but you guys… it’s still SO WORTH IT. There were plenty of meltdowns and minor setbacks but just having a change of scenery for two days was enough to lift all of our spirits. I have so many fond memories of family vacations from my childhood and I can’t wait to continue the tradition with my own kids! Even if it does mean I have to pack everything they own for a one night adventure ;)

Our first stop was at Avila Valley Barn so we could stretch our legs, visit the animals, and get Briar a sweet treat.

That central coast, man. It’s unreal. We spent hours on the beach combing through rocks and driftwood, watching the fog roll in, and breathing in that salty ocean air. Briar loved collecting water and using it for sand castles while Landon couldn’t get enough of taste-testing the sand. I’m telling you, Southern California beaches are nothing compared to the central coast shoreline. NOTHING.

After hanging out on the beach past sunset, we went back to our hotel room to get the kids settled, picked up a pizza + rosé (in a can! delightful!), and enjoyed a quiet night away from home. It was perfect.

All trips to Cambria include a stop at Grow. This little plant shop is incredible.

On our way home, we stopped in San Luis Obispo at the new Scout Coffee location so I could refuel with caffeine and visual inspiration. I picked up a latte, a bag of coffee, and a gold ring in one fell swoop. I would have stayed forever had there not been a husband and two napping babies waiting for me in the car! I’m obsessed with cute coffee shops and I’m also obsessed with SLO, so Scout perfectly satisfies both of those loves. Every time we visit, I try my hardest to convince John that we need to move there. ASAP.

It was such a great trip! John and I are planning on going back at the end of the year. Sans kids ;)

P.S. I put together a little video of our coastal adventure — enjoy!
