DIY Rear View Mirror Ornament | Ann-Marie Loves

This has been a BIG week around here! Briar started preschool, Landon started walking, and I went grocery shopping before 9:30 am for the first time in forever (huge feat for a non-morning person)! Needless to say, we’re feeling pretttttty good.

This past weekend, Briar and I prepared for the days ahead by having a little crafternoon at the dining room table. She’s been very into crafting lately and I am always happy to oblige her with crayons or do-a-dot paints or beads to thread onto string. On Sunday she decided she needed a new necklace for preschool so I set her up with faux leather cording and wooden beads while I worked on something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile: a rear view mirror ornament! I know it sounds super weird and way kitschy but I’ve decided that I’m okay with having quirky taste, especially if it makes for a fun DIY!

Remember a few years back when I was OBSESSED with weaving? During that phase of life, I purchased a bunch of faux leather cording thinking that it would make for a cool weaving, but it didn’t exactly pan out the way I envisioned. The cording has been sitting in a box ever since so I decided to give it new life by turning it into something for my car (AS YOU DO). I also grabbed a handful of cool wooden beads and my sharpest (read: most blog-worthy) gold scissors and got to work.

This project could not be simpler. I cut a 16″ strand of cording, folded it in half, and slipped on the largest beads in the center.

Next, I added two beads to each end of the strands and knotted them off. SO EASY.

Then, I looped it over my (very dirty) rear view mirror and admired my work!

Things are looking up!
