Baby Scrapbook | A Beautiful Mess Messy Book | Ann-Marie Espinoza

I have been on a serious scrapbooking kick lately and I must admit…I’m super excited about it! I started an album for Briar two weeks ago and am happily filling it up whenever I can find a few hours to sit down and play with paper. These pages were made thanks in part to a long naptime, coffee, and the Kardashians on repeat via Hulu. #essentials

To fill up the backside of the previous layout, I made another page using my favorite colorful sheet from the first Messy Box kit and the photo I carefully selected to announce Briar’s arrival on social media (such a big decision!). For the embellishing, I was so excited when I remembered that I had some of my favorite stamps on hand: Martha Stewart alphas and Kelly Purkey wooden alphas. What is it about stamping a title that feels so satisfying? I also used a handful of Amy Tangerine stickers, gold Thickers, and lots of enamel dots!

As it turns out, I’m really loving the whole “cut photos up and stick them in separate pockets” thing. It’s such a fun way to work a divided page protector! For this page, I kept things simple and used three photos, white watercolor paper, and gold heart Thickers. Holy moly, that middle photo of one day old baby Briar kills me.

These photos of Briar in the hospital tug at my heart…how was she ever so tiny? I’m so grateful that we brought the big camera and our iPhones to document those crazy first few days! For this spread, I chose some of my favorite pictures and cropped them to 3 x 3″ to fill out the center pockets of both pages. I also cut up a sheet of watercolor paper that I had loosely painted with black craft paint and used that to tie the spread together. Super easy!

P.S. The first installment of Briar’s scrapbook!

Baby Scrapbook | A Beautiful Mess Messy Book | Ann-Marie Espinoza

It’s been nine months since Briar was born, which means I only have about four million photos of her sitting on my hard drive. I cringe at the idea of those images living there forever, never to be seen by anyone other than me, so I finally had a bunch of photos printed. It felt so good to hold those pictures in my hands and reflect back on all the precious memories that they hold. It was right then and there that I realized that my Briar Bear deserves her own scrapbook. After all, I documented my pregnancy in scrapbook form…it was only a matter of time until I continued the story! So here’s the first installment of Briar’s scrapbook:

I can’t think of a more perfect overlay for Briar’s scrapbook than the one that came in A Beautiful Mess’ Messy Box kit…I’m obsessed! To add it to my album, I simply punched four holes with a Crop-A-Dile and popped it into place.

For the first page, I kept things pretty simple since I wanted the photos to do most of the talking. I also added in a journaling card with Briar’s stats and a few of my favorite gold papers + embellishments.

For this page, I used the backside of the first page protector and broke up the grid by placing a 4 x 6″ photo over four pockets filled with the same sheet of Dear Lizzy ombre paper. I also added a subtle title using Kelly Purkey white letter stickers.

For the third page, I decided to make a traditional layout…such a fun change of pace! This photo of John and Briar is one of my very favorites from her first day. She had just been cleaned up in the nursery and brought into our room and John couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Such a magical moment. (P.S. Since the 9 x 12″ page protectors are currently out of stock, I improvised and punched extra holes in an American Crafts 12 x 12″ sleeve and plan on cutting off the extra bit and sewing up the side.)

Supplies: Woodgrain Paper // Messy Box Kit // Dear Lizzy Serendipity Papers // Amy Tangerine Foam Thickers // Precision Pen

I’m excited to continue to work on Briar’s scrapbook each week! I plan on keeping the album as loose and rule-free as possible; if I miss a few things or go out of chronological order, that’s totally fine. I figure, as long as I’m capturing the big picture of her babyhood, then I’m doing my job.

Kelly Purkey Kit Designed by Ann-Marie Espinoza | Kit Giveaway! | Ann-Marie Loves

Designing the “Oh Happy Day” kit for Kelly Purkey was such a blast. She gave me total creative freedom, so I decided to design products that I would actually want to use…and I did! My scrapbooking skills are, well, a wee bit out of shape these days, but I’m determined to create the occasional layout or spread for the sake of remembering Briar’s babyhood. Plus, once I get into the groove of scrapbooking, I remember how fun it can be! Note to self: get your groove back.

Crafter's Holiday Gift Guide | Ann-Marie Loves

01. Gold Stapler // Staplers may not seem like a crafting essential, but I assure you…mine gets quite a workout on the regular. I’m in love with this gold stapler by Nate Berkus.

02. PaperMate Flair Felt Tip Pens // When it comes to writing utensils, there is nothing that beats these felt tips. I use them for everything from list-making to scrapbooking to writing letters. They’re my absolute favorite and they come in a ton of fun colors!

03. Gold Scissors // I can’t think of too many crafts that don’t require a good pair of scissors. This gold version is not only perfect for getting the job done but it’s just begging to be Instagrammed!

04. Solid Adhesive Runner // When I used to teach classes and host craft demos, it didn’t matter how awesome the project was…the tape runners would inevitably become the star of the show! Ha! People love the ease and simplicity of a good tape runner (myself included!).

05. Fiskars 12 Inch ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer // If paper is your idea of a good time then I highly recommend investing in a solid trimmer. This version is a total workhorse (I used it for all of my wedding projects!) and a steal of a deal compared to other heavy duty models.

06. Knitting by Design // I am a HUGE fan of craft books that not only feature projects I want to make but have inspiring styling and well-designed layouts. Similar books worth mentioning: Playful and Lena Corwin’s Made by Hand.

07. Jet Black Ink Pad // As someone who digs rubber stamps, I’ve experimented with many an ink pad in my time. This version by Ranger is juicy, vibrant, and qucik-drying (aka PERFECT).

08. Martha Stewart Knit and Weave Loom Kit // If there’s one product I’ve gotten way more than my money’s worth out of, it’s this loom. 2014 was the year I became obsessed with weaving (as you may have noticed) and it’s due in a large part to this incredibly easy-to-use kit.

09. Lion Brand Yarn // I’ve become a major yarn hoarder these past several months. I am now forever on the lookout for beautiful yarn in all different colors, textures, and gauges. This hot pink number by Lion Brand is perfect for whipping up a quick tassel, pom pom, blanket, or — you guessed it — woven wall hanging.

In case you missed my other gift guides, here’s one for infants and one for guys! Happy last minute shopping!

Ann-Marie Espinoza | BasicGrey Second City Collection

These days, I spend more time dreaming about all the things I want to make (thank goodness for iPhones while nursing!) than actually making the things I want to make. Nonetheless, I still crank out a project or two every so often and when I do, it feels good. Like, ”hey, I should do this all the time!” kind of good.

Ann-Marie Espinoza | BasicGrey Second City Collection

Now that Briar is s-l-o-w-l-y working her way towards longer, more consistent stretches of sleep (HALLELUJAH), I have a tiny bit of extra time on my hands to dive into creative projects. This month, I have a huge list of things I plan on making, which include but are not limited to: wreaths, wall hangings, packaging ideas, stockings, ornaments, and of course, a December Daily album. It’ll be a Christmas miracle if I can tackle the whole list in a single month with a four month old in tow, but I’m determined to take a stab at it!

Grab Bag

During the great “I’m going to be pregnant forever so I might as well organize this house” situation in early August, I put together fifteen grab bags stuffed with paper craft supplies. Now that I’ve finally figured out how to balance a baby in my arms while I work (literally!), these bags are now in my shop! I hope they bring you many a happy crafternoon :)

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

As I work on my album each week, I keep thinking “is this the final week? Will I have a baby picture to pop in next time?” But based on my visit to the doctor this past Tuesday, I still have plenty of pages left in me before any baby faces grace this album ;)

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

I’m keeping things pretty simple these days with a full-sized photo flanked by a page of short journaling. Nothing too fancy. After all, those baby shower thank you notes aren’t going to write themselves!

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

For this page, I used an old sheet of Sassafras paper and embellished it with a Crate Paper journaling card, yellow washi tape, Thickers, and a Dear Lizzy dimensional heart sticker. I kept the journaling short and sweet as well.

For the second page, I printed out a 6.25 x 9.5″ photo from my maternity shoot a few weeks back and used a strip of mint masking tape and a phrase from a Project Life card for extra emphasis. Feeling the baby kick, roll, and punch is a feeling I never ever want to forget. It’s pure magic.

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

Happy Friday! Today I have two new pages from my baby album as well as two new printables in my shop to share! First up: the baby album progress…

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

For the first page, I used a hot pink sheet of paper from BG’s Highline collection and then embellished it with a gold feather, a phrase die cut, candy buttons,  yellow washi tape, and aqua washi tape, which I then tucked into a full-size page protector. I also used the dotted lines on my “Kindly Send To” stamp to create a textured look across the background paper.

Baby Album | Ann-Marie Espinoza

For the second page, I used a 3 x 3″ Capture divided page protector to house my 20, 25, and 30 week bump shots. I also used my new 52 Weeks Journaling Card printables trimmed down to 3 x 3″ (I just trimmed a half inch off the top and a half inch off the bottom to make it work). You can read more about these printables below!

P.S. The jump in bump size from 25 weeks to 30 weeks? WHOA BABY. (Terrible pun intended.)

New Printables at Ann-Marie Loves Paper! | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com

This week has been one the more productive weeks that I’ve had in awhile, and as a result, I was able to crank out printables for both scrapbooking + pregnancy alike. Here are my two latest designs:

Pregnancy Week-by-Week Journaling Card Printables | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com
Pregnancy Week-by-Week Journaling Card Printables | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com
Pregnancy Week-by-Week Journaling Card Printables | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com

Pregnancy Week-by-Week Printables. I’ve been meaning to design these for quite some time, but I guess 8 months in as good a time as any, right? (Ha!) This set of printables includes 39 multi-colored cards (1 for each week of pregnancy, from week 4 to week 43), sized at 4.25 x 6.75.” They are perfect for weekly bump photos or even as inserts in a scrapbook or baby album! The best part of all is that if you don’t want them to be printed in color, you can always change your printer settings to black and white for a more uniform look.

52 Weeks Journaling Card Printables | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com
52 Weeks Journaling Card Printables | annmarielovespaper.bigcartel.com

52 Weeks Journaling Card Printables. This pack of printables features 52 journaling cards: 1 for each week of the year. Each card is 3 x 4,” making it perfect for memory-keeping systems such as Capture or Project Life. These printables can also be used for documenting a pregnancy, as you can see by my baby album pages above :)
